Back in the day, it used to be a big no-no on wearing white after Labor Day. Those fashion rule makers didn’t understand the joys of sporting a light color scheme on a gloomy winter day. Along with some quick tips, here’s an OOTD to provide you inspiration on wearing white all season along.
This outfit was actually taken on Christmas Day! On the way to family dinner, I had my sister take some quick photos of this outfit. The shirt is actually a poncho from The Limited Outlet (which I found a sale for $14). I love the minimalist pattern details and the addition of the turtleneck to keep warm on a snowy day. This poncho has instantly become my winter staple this year. It’s so soft and cozy. And I can dress it up easily with a skirt and heels.
Over the poncho, I added a light coat from Uniqlo. The color seems to match perfectly with the rest of my outfit. It’s also why I added light skinny blue jeans to complete the outfit. For accessories, I added two silver rings and black boots. The outfit turns out to be a great option to wear for any occasion while staying comfortable!
As you can see, it’s so easy to create your own winter white outfit. Follow these three quick tips on how to wear white this season:
Keep it simple.
You don’t have to wear white from head to toe to achieve this look. Just pick one white clothing item to make your outfit stand out.
Make your outfit color scheme lighter.
When wearing white, you don’t want that one white item to stick out. It’s best to pair a white sweater, for example, with a light brown coat and not with a black one. You want the winter white to blend nicely with the rest of the outfit.
Wear dark shoes to finish off the outfit.
Now here’s where your black boots come handy with this type of look. The boots help bring a little more contrast to the outfit as a whole. Besides, your shoes won’t look too dirty after walking in the snow!
